Welcome to 2018! I just wanted to update everyone on what we have been doing in the Art Room and what we have planned for January.
In December, I tried to send home as many of the completed projects as I could before we left for Winter Break. Unfortunately, because of the way the school schedule has been, I still have some classes that are continuing to work on their 2017 projects. If you haven’t seen them yet, keep an eye out for 3rd graders to bring home their Picasso project and ask them about what they learned about the famous artist, Pablo Picasso. 4th graders should have (or will soon) brought home their Starry Night project. Ask them what they learned about the famous artist Vincent vanGogh and the Post Impressionist art style. 5th graders will be bringing home their Pop Art project. Have them tell you what they learned about Pop Art. At some point in January, all classes will be starting their new 2018 projects. 3rd graders will be learning about Chinese New Year and creating a dragon. 4th graders will be learning how to create a 3 dimensional sculpture of a bird from a 2 dimensional painting. 5th graders will be deciding on an individual theme for a race car design and will enter their design into the Dover Downs annual Pace Car Design Contest. Encourage your student to put forth their best effort on this project! We’d love to have a Fred student have their design turned into the official pace car for Dover Downs International Speedway!
