Last Friday, March 10, Seaford School district welcomed families to Gallery 107 in downtown Seaford for an Art Show featuring artwork from all 6 schools in the district. We had a great turn out! If you didn't get to see the show, the artwork will be hanging for the rest of the month. Visit the gallery during their regular business hours: Thursdays 1-5, Fridays 1-5, and Saturdays 10-4. Join me on Friday, March 10 at Gallery 107 in downtown Seaford to celebrate the artistic talents of Seaford School District students. The artwork from a handful of very talented students from Frederick Douglass, as well as every school in the district, will be on display for the whole month of March. If you are unable to come to the opening reception between 5-6:30pm on March 10, we encourage you to visit the gallery during their regular hours to see the artwork on display. Gallery 107 is located at 324 High Street, Seaford. I hope to see you there!
The Dover International Speedway has invited Frederick Douglass Elementary school to participate in the Monster Mile Youth Nation Design Challenge. Each student in 5th grade is given a pace car template to design. The winning student's design is made into a real pace car to be used at the Dover Speedway Racetrack. Visit www.monstermileyouthnation.com for more contest details and to see what last year's winning car design looked like. Designs will be worked on during Art class during the month of March. I will send the designs to Dover by March 31. The winner will be announced in April. Good luck Fifth Graders!!!
The 3rd graders are finishing up with their sunset over the ocean paintings. Students learned how to draw different kinds of lines to create waves and how to blend colors to make a sunset out of pink, orange and red paint. Look for these projects to come home soon.
