5th grade is currently learning about the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos. We are using my homemade play dough to sculpt sugar skulls. Many 5th graders are wondering how to make this dough at home. Below is the recipe. BE ADVISED THAT AN ADULT SHOULD BE PRESENT WHILE MAKING THIS DOUGH!!!!
2 cups baking soda 1 cup corn starch 1.5 cups cold water Combine all ingredients in a pot on the stove and cook on medium-high heat until the mixture thickens to the point where it is the consistency of mashed potatoes. You will need to stir the mixture almost the entire time you're cooking it so that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot. Remove dough from stove and carefully dump it into a bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth while the dough cools. Once the dough is cool, transfer to an air tight container and ENJOY :)
